Objectives: In this study, zirconia-incorporated polycarboxylate cement (PCC) (ZrO2/PCC) was developed to reduce the cytotoxicity and improve the mechanical properties of PCC.
Methods: The ZrO2 was incorporated into a commercial PCC powder 0¡20 wt%. Its mechanical properties and dimensional stability were evaluated, and its cell biocompatibility was assessed using an MTS analysis with human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs). analysis with human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs).
Results: As the ZrO2 content increases, the mechanical properties strength values increase; there was a statistically significant difference in the cell survival rate (p<0.05).
Conclusions: The research results have demonstrated improvements in the mechanical properties and biocompatibility stability of ZrO2 in dental porcelain ceramics.
